About Listen Closer

Listen Closer is an independent editorial platform and sound archive exploring the many ways sound is used, understood, and experienced across art, fashion, science, technology, and everyday life. Through stories, films and a global collection of recordings, we invite the world to listen closer.

Sound is a source of information, memory and art. It can reveal things that an image alone cannot: distance, movement, emotion, belonging and change. A voice can carry a language and a history; a street can tell you how a city lives. The Archive is where those details can be explored through voices, places, nature, objects and everyday life. Discover follows the questions they raise, from culture and identity to ecology, technology, design and accessibility. The platform is for curious listeners, field recordists, researchers and anyone who has ever stopped and wondered what they were hearing. The aim is to make listening approachable, give recordings context and connect people with sounds and ideas they might otherwise miss. Listen Closer grows from that invitation: to stay curious, to share what you hear and to find meaning in the everyday. Follow a sound into the Archive, a question into Discover, or simply take a moment to listen.
